DTS Introduction

Information and communication technologies are changing at a rapid pace. They are leading or accompanying a great number of changes in all the activities of humankind. Every “technological revolution” is widening the gap between the ones who can access to its benefits and the others. And at the same time, each of them brings new tools for the personal and social revolution we are working on.
In particular, we have seen personal relationship and collaboration change with mobile phones, emails, on-line petitions, news bulletins, mail campaigns, publishing and searching on the web, speaking only of the most eloquent ones. With the use of some growing lists of contacts, we are present in more and more databases, sometimes without our consent.
In our vision, humanity develops itself through socio-historical accumulation and this accumulation makes us who we are, how we feel, think and act. It has been the work of generations to surpass natural conditions and improve life. This is a reason why we cannot accept knowledge and culture to be privatized.
